    For teams on HubSpot

Forward-Deployed Engineer: I build the AI and integrations your team runs on.

I work inside your team, on the problem you actually have, and ship while I'm there. You keep working software, the tests that prove it and a handoff your team can run.

    What forward-deployed engineering means

Forward-deployed engineering means the engineer works where the problem is. I join your channels and your calls, look at your data and your workflows as they are, and build against those instead of a requirements doc that's been through three handoffs.

The expensive mistakes in integration work happen in the gap between the people who know the problem and the people who write the code. For the length of a build, I'm both.

    1. EmbedI learn how your team actually works, including the parts nobody wrote down.
    2. BuildI ship working pieces while I'm there, so you see progress as it happens.
    3. Hand offYour team gets the code, the docs and the training to run it without me.

    AI products

AI products that propose, with a person who approves

The AI I build doesn't act on its own. It does the slow part (spotting the pattern, drafting the recommendation), and a named person decides. Everything it suggests and everything someone approves is on record.

    1. 01Agent draftsspots the pattern, writes the recommendation
    2. 02A person approvesa named person decides
    3. 03Your team actswith a record of who said yes

AI that proposes, people who approve

I build HubSpot-native AI products where agents draft the recommendation, a person approves it, and the people affected accept it in a portal they can log into. They don't need a HubSpot seat. Every part ships with automated tests.

What your team can do now

Act on a short list of approved recommendations instead of digging through reports to find the problem.

    Integrations

    Integrations that fail loudly

Most integrations break quietly. A field gets renamed, a token expires, a vendor changes a setting, and records stop arriving with no error anywhere. I build integrations that tell you when something's wrong, and I write down the changes that would break them before they happen.

    Lead capture you can trust

I build small, tested relays that move website form submissions into HubSpot, so a platform change or a vendor setting can't drop leads without someone noticing. The relay comes with a written list of every change that would break it.

What your team can do now

Own the relay, with a checklist for taking it over and a plain list of what not to touch.

    Systems that stay in step

When a booking, scheduling or billing platform feeds HubSpot through a nightly batch, I build webhook handlers that write each change as it happens and decide which system wins when two disagree. They ship with a cutover plan you can roll back.

What your team can do now

Work from data that's current today, with a written plan for switching over and switching back.

    Data architecture

Data architecture: one answer to "which system is right?"

Most of what looks like an AI or integration problem is a data problem underneath. Before I automate anything, I find out where the truth lives, which system wins a conflict and what happens downstream when a value changes.

    Consent you can explain

When opt-ins live in several systems, I map where each one comes from, which system wins and what happens downstream, before anyone switches on automation that sends messages or touches billing.

What your team can do now

Answer "why did this person get that message?" from a written model.

    One catalog, everywhere

I make one record the source of truth for what you sell, so adding a product updates every dropdown that uses it, and marketing can segment by what people were quoted versus what they bought.

What your team can do now

Add a product without filing a developer ticket, and find the people who asked about something but never bought it.

Automation on the tier you have

When your HubSpot tier doesn't include workflows, I can put the logic in code, with guards against automation loops and a plain-language guide for the people who use it.

What your team can do now

Run the process you need on the subscription you already pay for.

Scope → Build in the open → Tests → Handoff

    How a build runs

    1. ScopeWe agree on the problem, what done looks like and what's out of scope. I read your systems before I promise anything, because what's in the portal is usually different from what's in the diagram.
    2. Build in the openYou see the work while it happens: in your channels, in a shared repo and in short demos. If I find something you didn't know about, you hear about it that week.
    3. TestsAutomated tests from the first day, plus a person checking the real thing. Tests can pass while a live page is still broken, so I check the live result myself before I call it done.
    4. Handoff packageYour team gets everything it needs to run the build without me.
    handoff/
    • repo/Repo: the code, moved into your organization
    • SPEC.mdSpec: what it does, how it's wired and why
    • RISKS.mdRisk list: the changes that would break it, and what to do if one happens
    • docs/Docs: written in your team's language
    • training/Training: working sessions with the people who'll run it, plus written recaps
What your team gets at handoff

    What you get each month

    $5K/month

Month to month, with 30 days' notice. One build stream at a time.

    • Scoping: the problem, what done looks like, and what's out
    • Building in the open, in your channels and a shared repo
    • Automated tests, plus a person checking the live result
    • The handoff package: repo, spec, risk list, docs, and training on what was built

Not included: AI strategy, office hours and team enablement. This is builds only.

Want your team leading AI work too? The Fractional AI Lead includes everything here, plus an AI point of view, a roadmap tied to your quarterly priorities, weekly office hours, team onboarding and governance.

    Common questions

    What is forward-deployed engineering?

I embed with your team, find the real problem in the day-to-day work, build the fix in the open with tests, and hand it off so your team runs it.

What's the difference between the Forward-Deployed Engineer and the Fractional AI Lead?

The Engineer builds. The Lead builds too, and adds the direction, office hours and team enablement: an AI point of view, a roadmap tied to your quarter, team onboarding and governance. If you start with builds and later want your team enabled, you can move up.

    How does pricing work?

It's $5K/month, month to month, with 30 days' notice. That covers one build stream at a time, from scoping through handoff.

How is this different from hiring an agency or a dev shop?

The difference is where the work happens. An agency usually builds from a spec at arm's length. I build next to the people who'll use it, so the questions get answered in hours, and the handoff is planned from day one.

What do I get at the end of a build?

You get working software and a handoff package: the repo, a spec, a risk list, docs written for your team and training on what was built. The goal is that your team can run it without me.

    Who owns the code?

You do, once it's paid for. I keep the tools I built before we started and license whatever a build needs from them.

Do you only work with HubSpot?

HubSpot is home base. I connect it to whatever else you run, like scheduling, SMS and franchise-management platforms, a website or a data warehouse.

We're on a lower HubSpot tier. Can you still build this?

Often, yes. When a tier is missing a feature like workflows, I can sometimes put the logic in code instead, with guards so it doesn't loop or double-write.

How long does a build take?

It depends on scope. I work on one build stream at a time, month to month, and ship in small pieces, so you see working software early and can stop with 30 days' notice.

Can you work under my agency's brand?

Yes. I work as part of your team, on your client relationship, with an NDA. See For Agencies & Partners.

    Tell me what's broken.

Every engagement starts with a conversation. Bring the problem, and I'll tell you whether it's a build and what it would look like.
